About
The movie features actors like C. Thomas as Ponyboy, Matt Dillon as Dally, Patrick Swayze as Darry, Ralph Macchio as Johnny, and many more. The story is about three orphaned boys in Oklahoma named Ponyboy, Darrel, and Soda pop. Ponyboy is the youngest of the three. Ponyboy had a good relationship with his elder brother Darrel before he became a caregiver of the house as their parents died in an accident.
All the three brothers belong to a gang of boys called “Greasers’ who lived on the north side. Ponyboys’ concern was that if they face any trouble amongst greasers so the authorities may split their families. Socs were another gang from the south side, they were more like the preppie teen kinds. The greasers hate the Socs gang because they once hit Ponyboy’s friend. One night Pony and his friend Johnny along with Danny Winston go out of a movie and then they try to hit on the socs girls, as a result, a rebellious act occurs including the Socs, Ponyboy, and Johnny Cade.
Ponyboy reaches home late and gets hit by his elder brother. Jhonny being the best he can be takes Pony out so that he can calm himself. The boys managed to meet the same socs boys again they tried to threaten Johnny and on the other side, Ponyboy was being drowned in the fountain. Johnny stabs one of the socs guy and he dies on the spot. Ponyboy and Johnny hid in the church for 2-3 days and the church caught fire because of the cigarette left by Pony. Johnny was injured and hospitalized. Johnny died in the hospital. The demise of Pony’s friend affected his grades. The story ends with Pony writing a report on the experiences he faced.

The outsider was nominated as “The Best family motion Picture” Coppola was nominated at the Moscow International film festival for the Golden Prize. “Best Young Supporting Actress in Motion Picture” was awarded to Diane Lane. The Young Artist Foundation awarded the film four young artist awards as the film featured young actors who played their roles effortlessly. “Best Young Motion Picture Actor” in a Feature Film award was won by one and only C.Thomas Howell.
