Initially, the founder, Michael Kittredge had initially made his first candle called Christmas 1969 from melted crayons as a gift to his mother at the age of sixteen. Currently, it is the leading Candle making brand in all of the United States of America, and one of the leading Candle making brands of the planet.
What does the term “Cruelty Free” mean?
Back in the olden days, many products in the market were made using body parts of animals (read: animal fat, animal bones etc.). Chemical products which were supposed to come into direct contact with humans (cosmetic products, perfumes, etc.) were also tested on animals before they were released into the market. This was done to check for possible side effects it might have on the human skin, before release. And if the formula turned out to be faulty, the product was sent back to the lab to be redesigned without side effects for the launch.
However, recently, with the rise of empathy towards these defenseless creatures from animal activists and the general public alike, more and more people are starting to consider that perhaps these practices are too stone-hearted towards the poor beings.
So, products being cruelty free means that it hasn’t been tested on animals nor does it use any animal body part as it’s basic manufacturing compound. Additionally, it is important to note that sometimes there are compounds which are not harmful for human beings however they are harmful for animals and hence these tests at times may not be accurate, resulting in being pointless.
